Solidarity website Background Information Required

CAN you help two of Solidarity’s regular writers who are after background information?

One comrade wishes to produce a series of articles looking at the establishment trade union leaders and the unions they represent. Of particular interest are the incomes and assets of both the leaders and the unions themselves. As we’ve shown already, they would be the envy of many fat-cats and PLCs!

Another comrade is after any information about Britain’s banks, industry and land. He’s trying to build up an overall picture of who owns who - and who owns what. Also of great interest are the business interests of MEPs, MPs, MSPs, AMs and MLAs.

Both writers would also like to reiterate the request in the August 2010 Solidarity Bulletin (Solidarity needs your news!) and seek to encourage all members and supporters to send their industrial and trade union news to us. We like to see the journals of the establishment Unions and their bulletins.

They are keen to help build and co-ordinate “an infrastructure of members or supporters who can supply us with accurate and detailed news relating to their country, region or trade.”
They feel that this network will prove vital, especially once Solidarity starts producing trade-based agitprop publications.

As the August Bulletin noted, as “with our appeal for whistleblowers (see our article This is Solidarity calling ‘N’ of 03/07/2010) the identity of all those who contact us will remain confidential.”

SOLIDARITY TRADE UNION would like to encourage all members and supporters to send their industrial and trade union news to us. Our last few transport-related articles were produced on the basis of information supplied to us by ‘D’.

Solidarity represents both blue and white collar workers. We organise across all trades and professions, so we are not tied to one trade. We believe in one big union. Therefore, all industrial and trade union news is of interest to us. Even if we don’t use it for an immediate news article, it remains useful for background research.

Furthermore, we’d also like to build an infrastructure of members or supporters who can supply us with accurate and detailed news relating to their country, region or trade. This network will prove vital, especially once we start producing our trade-based agitprop publications.

As with our appeal for whistleblowers (see our article This is Solidarity calling ‘N’ of 03/07/2010) the identity of all those who contact us will remain confidential.

BNP Nomination Process and Solidarity Union - a Personal Statement from the GS

A number of members (who are also members of the BNP) have contacted me to ask if the Solidarity Trade Union takes a view as to who they should nominate for the role of BNP Leader. It is no secret that Solidarity defends the rights of BNP members to freedom of expression and association. It is also well known that we have prevented harassment of BNP members at work on political grounds. Though our members are drawn from all Parties and none we are a Nationalist Union with love of our country at heart.

Three of the four contenders are members of our Union, Richard Barnbrook, Derek Adams and the incumbent Nick Griffin. Derek Adams has even acted as a Representative for us which resulted in a Manager who was harassing workers herself being removed. All three value the Union and want to work with us to promote a real alternative to the establishment Unions. They understand that our work is vital.

Sadly the fourth contender is a very different matter. Eddy Butler has shown contempt for our Union and the good work that we do. He has done everything he can to sow discord between ourselves and the Party of which he is a member. He has openly said that he wants to severe any support the Union gets from the BNP and hopes this will mean we will collapse. In addition he has said that he will sack some of our members who work in a BNP call-centre in Belfast and move operations to the mainland. No consultation - just the sack. We have even been taken to task by him for standing up for our members and pointing out that they have a right to be consulted and that any move would have to follow correct procedure!

I don't believe in beating around the bush. I have been asked to express my opinion and I will. Eddy Butler hates our Union. Don't nominate him. If you have nominated him on one of his invalid, unofficial forms don't worry. It will not count anyway. Use the official form to nominate whosoever you please. Eddy has had a lot to say about our Union and now I say this of him - Eddy is a wrecker who does not deserve the support of any genuine Nationalist.

We look forward to continuing our work to represent all workers in need of our help and protection. Together we are strong!

Solidarity says:- Stop the Cuts

The nationalist Trade Union Solidarity welcomed the TUC 's proposed actions against the Coalition Government's plans to shed hundreds of thousands of Public Sector jobs (some fear up to 750,000) as part of their 'cost-cutting' strategy.

The TUC is considering calls from individual Unions for a Day of Action (October 20th) against these cuts and a mass-demonstration on the (October 23rd).

Solidarity General Secretary Patrick Harrington said "We don't always see eye-to-eye with the TUC (for example over their weak defence of British workers faced with cheap migrant labour). However we are at one over their calls to resist the Government's proposed public spending cuts. Whilst the previous Government saddled the nation with a massive debt in order to bail out the banks we don't believe that any cuts should fall primarily at the feet of the British worker. More money for example could have been levied against the banks at the last budget.

To expect public sector workers to pay the price of banker and Government follies is unacceptable. If the latter is to think the unthinkable it should be over its expensive overseas military strategies rather than domestic cutbacks. One has to be suspicious of David Cameron's Big Society plans which could be paving the way to replacing Government workers with unpaid volunteers?"

He added "Solidarity will be joining in on any action and will take the opportunity to distribute our 'Stop the Cuts' leaflets to the British workforce explaining why any cuts are unfair" .

Adam Walker and Solidarity

Adam Walker BNP

First of all congratulations to Adam Walker on being appointed as the British National Party Staff Manager. As the BNP grows, this position will become more crucial to the smooth running of the party.

Now Adam was a good teacher - why else would parents and former pupils have supported him the way they did when he was so viciously persecuted by the General Teaching Council - and his experiences in the 1th/19th King's Royal Hussars will have taught him how to receive orders before giving them, which is a big must have when it comes to managing men and so I am sure he will do just fine.

But his appointment has caused a few people to write to me asking how can he, as the new BNP Staff Manager do the job properly if he is also the President of the nationalist trade union Solidarity and won't there be a conflict of interest?
